Product Description
The 45C37 unit is a Remote Head module that Reliance Electric was responsible for developing and manufacturing. The 45C37 Remote Head module was designed to be used in conjunction with the products in the AutoMate series.
The 45C37 remote head module is comprised of two printed circuit boards that are enclosed within a metal housing. These two printed circuit boards are the Remote Processor card and the Power Supply. This processor card has on it an Intel 8031 microprocessor, a female BNC coax connector to connect to the network, a high speed UART, and an I/O interface chip that is designed to communicate with the four I/O ports.
Placed on the 45C37 remote head module are some LED indicators that are designed to tell the user different statuses of the remote head. The “POWER” light indicates that the +5 Volts are within a specified range. There is also the “XMIT” light that is used to indicate that the data is being transmitted. This light is turned on for msec every single time the Remote Head begins to transmit. In addition to that, there is the “RECV” light which indicates that the data is being received. This is turned on for 100 msec whenever the Remote Head receives a message that is deemed “good.” Lastly, there is the “RAIL FAULT” light, which indicates that the communication between the I/O devices and the I/O ports has failed. This, in turn, activates the I/O reset application, where the outputs are all turned off. When this indicator is on, then the XMIT and RECV indicates which I/O port has failed.
